Apprenticeships
What is involved?
- Employment, for a minimum of 16 hours per week, with training in both the workplace and at the College.
- Apprentices must be in receipt of minimum wage, or pro-rata for part time employees
- Attendance at College on a regular basis, usually weekly
- An apprentice will work towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), Key Skills, Employment Responsibilities and Rights and a technical certificate.
- Qualifications that you have already gained may contribute towards some of the apprenticeship components
What qualifications are needed to undertake an Apprenticeship?
This may vary across the program areas and depending upon the level of the Apprenticeship. On average 4-5 GCSE's Grade D and above would be expected including Maths and English, although other considerations will be taken into account such as the initial assessment, interview and an aptitude test.
